SUMMARY:250 Years of Forging a Nation
DESCRIPTION:As we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution\, Liverpool Public Library and The Onondaga Historical Association present this interactive experience.  This program isn’t just a look back at 1776; it is an exploration of the ongoing work required to build and maintain a “more perfect union.” \nExperience a blacksmithing demonstration with Mark the British Blacksmith. \nConsider the time period from the perspective of the Haudenosaunee with representatives from the Skä•noñh Great Law of Peace Center. \nJordan Historian\, Elaine Peters\, will demonstrate the historic recipe: Berry Fool (with tastings). \nDiscuss the history and view models of the USS Hana (1st ship of the U.S. Navy)\, and the U.S.S. Constitution (An 18th Century frigate commissioned by President Washington after the war {1797} and named to celebrate the United States Constitution with historian Jon Anderson. \nRead the letters of a Union soldier to his family from the battalion from CNY and compose a letter to your future self with your thought on freedom\, equality and unity with the Liverpool Village Historian’s office. \nDiscover what Union soldiers carried in their packs and how they slept with Dan Fleet\, a reenactor from the122nd New York Infantry Regiment. \nThe Liverpool Public Library Civics Team will be on hand to engage people in interactive activities focused on considering the principles behind the words in the founding documents. \nAnd more! \nDate: Saturday\, July 18\, 2026\nLocation: Liverpool Public Library (310 Tulip Street\, Liverpool\, NY 13088)

SUMMARY:Walking & Talking Wednesdays Tour- The Heart of Syracuse
DESCRIPTION:This summer and fall\, spend your mid-week lunch hour with Curator of History Robert Searing\, listening to some local history as you get in a midday walk around town. Tours leave at 12:00 pm from 321 Montgomery Street and last for 45-60 minutes. \nTickets are $20 each\, or $15 for OHA Members. Reserve your spot here! \n  \nThis Tour: The Heart of Syracuse \nTake a stroll down memory lane of the past downtown businesses\, the railroad that traveled through the downtown streets\, and some of the city’s lost historical treasures. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we are offering two different tours\, Footsteps in Freedom and newest addition\, The Heart of Syracuse. Footsteps in Freedom covers a wide array of topics\, including abolition\, architecture\, and some of the city’s lost historical treasures. Take a stroll down memory lane of the past downtown businesses\, the railroad that traveled through the downtown streets\, and some of the city’s lost historical treasures on the new Heart of Syracuse tour. \nPlease arrive and check in at OHA’s front desk 10 minutes prior to the start of your tour.
