NY State and the Early Stages of the American Revolution
April 23 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This talk will explain what the General Association document is, why it mattered, and how it fits into the early stages of the American Revolution—when, in 1775, the conflict was still essentially a civil war among British subjects. We’ll look at why the document was created and how it relates to the larger story of how the war unfolded. The lecture will also introduce some of the most notable people who signed it and share the remarkable story of how the document was found in the Onondaga Historical Archives, even though it was long believed to have been lost in the 1911 state archives fire.
This program is presented by Robert Searing, Curator of History Onondaga Historical Association at the Liverpool Public Library.
This program is free and open to the public.
