Explore the remarkable career of Japanese American photographer Yoichi Okamoto, from his roots in Central New York and work in postwar Austria to his years as President Lyndon B. Johnson’s White House photographer.
Through candid photographs, Photographer in the Service of Democracy offers an intimate look at the people, places, and moments surrounding presidential power and a transformative period in American history. The exhibition also considers the role of photography in documenting, interpreting, and shaping the public’s understanding of history.
The exhibition is curated by Hans Petschar, Ph.D., with exhibition design by Hannes Richter.
